Bixxis Prima XL - By Doriano De Rosa
Bixxis frames are made by one of the world’s best frame builders, Doriano De Rosa. Together with his daughter Martina, Bixxis brings the finest Italian hand made frames in steel and titanium.
Mike first met Doriano in the late 80’s when we began importing De Rosa frames and later in the early 90’s we used frames built by Doriano for our UCI professional Team F.S Maestro. We were delighted to find his personal brand recently and be able to offer their frames to our customers.
I personally met Doriano when I was around 12 years old and he promised to build me a made to measure frame, unfortunately I grew quite a bit while waiting for the frame so I was never able to ride it! But now I can finally ride a frame by Doriano as this Prima is for me.
And here is the finished bike. A modern steel frame that performs as a race bike should, wind tunnels can’t measure the smile a bike puts on your face when you ride it.

I have been sat on this video for a few days now, it’s a seemingly simple bike build video but has brought up a lot of memories for me while thinking of the history. I grew up with Maestro both the business itself and F.S Maestro pro team, I remember the Team launch in the old shop in Pagham handing out coffees to visitors ( I must have been 8/9 at the time) as I got older I would more time in the shop with my dad Mike slowly being allowed to help out with builds and chatting to regulars, printing price lists to send off to customers with brochures and visiting Belgium to watch my brother Nigel race, later on living and racing in Belgium myself with dreams of being pro. The industry and technology of bikes have constantly changed, the love for it has stayed the same. I’m allowed to build bikes now but not wheels, that is reserved for The Don.
